Best places for apnea diving: Mexico
Our journey today takes us directly to one of the most popular and beautiful barrier reef in the world: Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Apnea divers and a simple swimmers can find here the paradise: an unparalleled underwater world.
We can find all type of turism, luxury or backpaper turism but all have the same lens: discover the underwater beauty.
Once landed in Cancun, we take a bus to Playa del Carmen and we reach in just 1 hour the best place for underwater activity: Cozumel, an insland in front of Playa del Carmen. It’s the bigger island of Mexico and it’s the favorite destination of apnea divers, carrying on their monofins and their dreams to discover underwater beauty: corals, sponges, octopus, starfish, turtles, dolphins and whales.
Cozumel is in fact surrounded by a reef (which is not reachable by swimming from the coast) considered among the finest in the world. The best diving? A Palancar Reef, a natural park in the southwest of the island:bring with you your monofin and began to swim in paradise.
Back on dry land we head by bus to Tulum, the major tourist attraction along the Riviera Maya and it is the modern town of the same name, Tulum. The Mayan city is located within the National Park Tulum. You can stay in one of the many villages along the beach, where you can live in more natural value, making you soothed by the sound of the waves and the glow of the moon: an unforgettable experience. In front of your “Cabaña” the carribean sea waiting for you, you could explore it when you feel like it, with your fins in hand.
Near Tulum you can find one of the most popular Mexican “lake”, the Gran Cenotes; a Cenote is a sinkhole with exposed rocky edges containing ground water.
In a Cenote (Cenotes Dos Ojos) the great apnea diver Carlos Coste manages to break the World Record with a Binfins monofin.

On the way back we stop in Cancun, but only to catch the ferry (in Puerto Suarez harbour) in direction of another heavenly island. The sea in Isla Mujeres is pure Caribbean.
Measuring eight kilometers for up to one, and turns very well on a motorbike or bicycle, available for hire.
The most popular beach is Playa Los Cocos, a five minute walk from the city, while the best snorkeling is done at the National Park El Garrafon (better get there early, before the boats from Cancun).
Our journey is finished …. now stop to dream, take your monofin and swim in carribean see Quintana roo is waiting for you to discover a magical underwater world
